Tethered Bottle Caps - YAY OR NAY?
15. june 2023.
Plastic is an integral part of modern life. Therefore, special attention is paid to the responsible consumption of plastic and the reduction of pollution. Over the last few years, several studies have shown that long-term pollution is caused by single-use plastic products. That is why the European Union published the EU directive 2019/904, which deals with how to treat single-use plastic products. By 2024, drink bottles made of plastic must be produced in such a way that the cap is firmly attached to the container. Beverage containers with a capacity of up to three litres, namely containers used for liquids such as beverage bottles, including their caps and lids and composite beverage packaging, including their lids and covers.
These small but highly prevalent items often escape waste management systems, contributing to devastating plastic pollution. Moreover, studies reveal that plastic caps and lids often break down into microplastics, ingested by marine animals, leading to severe health consequences throughout the food chain. Therefore, attaching caps to plastic bottles is one of the solutions for more efficient collection and recycling of plastic from beverages.
This solution is very practical and completely hygienic, and the safety standards for preserving the quality and taste of beverages have been met. Do you like this innovation?
